In a nutshell, this is a company that provides technical expertise on radiation and its effects in the medical environment, particularly in medical imaging science.

The most fundumental thing you should see is a commitment to providing quality Diagnostic Imaging, Radiation Safety and Accreditation Testing services. My job as a Diagnostic Medical Physicist is often obscured under requirements set by State/Federal laws and accrediting bodies like the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the Joint Commission (JCAHO). My fundumental goal is not to just keep your practice compliant with all regulations and accreditation standards, but to provide direction and expert advice in maintaining the Standard of Care through an effective Quality Assurance and Radiation Safety program. If you are searching for a physicist who can just "check a box" at the lowest cost, you are simply not getting your money's worth.

The second major point is competence. I may not have enough grey hairs to boast in the business, but I am formally trained in a nationally-acclaimed residency program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (2006-2008) and have spent 5 years working full-time as a consultant in a Roanoke-based consultant company. I have a Ph.D. in Atomic Physics (graduated December 2005) with a full complement of coursework in Diagnostic Medical Physics at the U.T. Medical Center in Toledo, OH (known then as the Medical College of Ohio), and in November 2012 I passed my boards for the American Board of Radiology as a Diagnostic Physicist. In my line of work, keeping current on the technology is an endless struggle, and everyone who requests services from me is guaranteed to get everything I can give. Finally, the third thing is conviction. I often joke that a good Diagnostic Medical Physicist is the "secret sauce" that makes a medical imaging program a preferred choice over its less-supported competition. I may not be a physician or a nurse, but in the 21st Century there needs to be a "go-to" person to provide expert advice, emergency consultation, and the training of a scientist to provide quantitative medicine support and answers to a poorly-understood health hazard that is Ionizing Radiation. I've dedicated my life to understanding it, and I want to package that knowledge by giving no-nonsense advice on how to work smart around radiation.
